Nature Walks

Jekyll Island’s abundance of unspoiled natural beauty – from its richly preserved maritime forests to its pristine dune systems to its 10 miles of tidal beaches – is perhaps best appreciated with the assistance and guidance of an experienced Jekyll Island staffers and volunteers.  

From beach combing and shell collecting to bird watching and Sea Turtle patrolling, Jekyll Island packs a lot of activities in a small space.  Guided activities include nature walks, Historic District Landscape Tours, and Turtle Walks (part of the Jekyll Island Sea Turtle Project, offered from May through August).

Rates:

  • Nature Walks (9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday (year round) and Friday (March-Sept.)
    Adults:   $5
    Children 8-17  $3
    Children 7 and under FREE
  • Historic District Landscape Tours (9 a.m. Thursdays)
    Adults:   $5
    Children 8-17  $3
    Children 7 and under FREE

Tidelands Nature Center offers hands- on marine environmental science programs for the general public and school groups. Stop in to meet a young sea turtle, alligators, fish, hermit crabs, snakes, and other animals native to Georgia's coast!! Take a guided kayak tour of Jekyll Creek, or rent a canoe and enjoy a relaxing paddle on Rixen pond. Nature walks available throughout the year. Learn about Jekyll's coastal ecosystems. Join one of our guides on a walk to the beach, forest ,or marsh.
